Ruth was delighted to see Catching the Missing Beat get reviewed along with new work from Tom Paulin, Alia Kobuszko, and John F. Deane - four very different poets, four very different - but not entirely unrelated - sets of subject matter, each striking in its own way. Ruth was also lucky enough to bag the pic, a gorgeous, almost half page snap of a mare arched over her very vulnerable looking chestnut foal, captured in mellifluous duns, creams and yellows. It illustrates a short poem entitled Rescued Mare with Foal, a work that is infinitely more elemental than this picture of contentment would suggest.
